The Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations were introduced in April 2015 and are directly relevant to those that operate in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry - to include retailers and installers.
The regulation was introduced with an overall objective of reducing injury, illness and fatality linked to the construction industry.
The regulation defines set roles and responsibilities to stakeholders, namely the retailer (Principal Designer, or PD) and the installer (Principal Contractor, or PC).
The regulation essentially requires a Construction Phase Plan (CPP) to be completed for every project, which identifies and assists the management of health & safety topics - to include, asbestos, dust generation, trips and falls etc.
